Metamorphosis 3

1. The author changed Gregor into an insect because his family doesn't even treat him like a human. By turning Gregor into a insect the author is saying that Gregor is like many other people that have to work day and night to just pay off their family debt. Most insects don't have their schedule vary from day to day. Just like Gregor's schedule of waking up up at 5 catching the train and going to work. Insects don't do much, but do what they need to do to survive. Just like how Gregor's life goes.

2. Kafka probably chose a roach/beetle because he wants it to be unique. Nobody likes roaches, most people think they shouldn't exist because they don't see the purpose of them. There are advertisement on ways to kill them. Frogs and reptiles have been used alot so changing it up might draw a bit more attention. And you can describe a roach in more detail than a frog. Because everybody knows what frogs look likes, and most people don't pay much attention to what roaches look like before they kill it.

Metamorphosis 2

1. All the family members have different views of Gregor.
Negative. The Samsa family dose more harm to each other then helps each other. Gregors money is taken for granted by his family. "the special warmth was no longer present"(p.10). Gregor has a very stress full life. "Gregor...was in the position to bear the expenses of the entire family"(p.10). Gregor was the only one paying of the family, while everybody is doing nothing. Gregor is also expected to bring in the money.

Positive. The Samsa family also did a little of help to each other. The only family member that still cared about Gregor is his sister. "only his sister stilled remained close to Gregor" (p.10) Another example of the Samsa family working together is when his sister and mother cook. " his sister had to team up with his mother to do the cooking".(p.9) His sister took care of Gregor everyday by feeding him and taking care of him. "she brought him, to test his taste, an entire selection' all spread out on an old news paper"(p.8)

2. 1. Communication
    2. Being respectful to your family members
    3. Know what they like and dislike
    4. Support family members decision
    5. Appreciate them for who they are

3. F
They don't talk to each other much.
They don't respect Gregor, they take him for granted.
Only Gregor's sister knew that he liked milk. His dad and mom should know too.
His dad doesn't like the fact that he has to stop working.
His dad shouldn't be mad at him for being a bug. But he should encourage him that being a bug ins't that bad.

Metamorphosis 1

What circumstances in Gregor's life might have caused him to feel dehumanized even before the metamorphosis took place?

Gregor has no life. He has to work day in and day out to pay off his parents debt. And being a traveling salesman doesn't help. Since he money he brings home goes straight to paying off the debt, he doesn't have any to spend on himself. He also lives in his parents house. He has to wake up at 5 to get to catch the train to get to work. He also has a mean boss who flips out over him not going to work once.

The strain of work causes him to forget about life and just worry about work. He also gets no more attention for bringing in money anymore. His father takes him for granted, and treats him like he is his property. Buy expecting him to bring the money in and he will get mad if he doesn't go to work. His job is also very demanding, by making him wake up at 5 every morning and catch a train to get to work.

Of MIce and Men 4

There are some considerable differences in Of Mice and Men the movie and book. The ending is one to consider. In the book Slim and everybody else shows up at the clearing. While in the movie there is only George. They also started the story wrong. In the book it starts off as Lennie and George enter the clearing. While in the movie they start it with the girl in the red dress running away. Also at the bunk house George is always playing solitaire while not reading a book. The pistol Carlson has is wrong. He had a Lugar not a Python or any other type of revolver. Lennie didn't hurl the pup across the room like he did in the book. And the way George kills Lennie in the movie was not discreet, like he did in the book.

The first time Curly saw Lennie and George he asked where his wife is in the book. While in the movie Curly asked where is my dad.  Curly didn't split the people to find Lennie like in the movie. Instead George told them which way Lennie would of gone. Lennie found the clearing in the book. While in the movie George had to find him in the stream.

Dear George

Dear George,
I agree on your decision to kill Lennie. Killing Lennie was a good idea because he kills just about anything. "Lennie looked back at the dead girl. The puppy close to her."(p.92) Lennie killed a small puppy and Curly's wife on the same day. It was a good idea to kill Lennie because he is very big, strong but clueless and a guy like that needs to know what he is doing so he doesn't hurt anybody else. But Lennie is clueless and he kill most animals that he likes. "I like to pet nice things with my fingers, sof' things"(p.90) Lennie likes soft things and many things that are soft are living. And he tends to kill them because he is too stupid to know what he is doing. Since Lennie is stupid and likes soft things and people likes to wear soft things he could end up killing another person because of the clothing they are wearing.

Killing Lennie with happy thoughts was a good way to end his life. Making him dream and not yelling at him would not make you regret your decision more. I think killing Lennie was the right idea because it would of been better for you to kill him then Curly. And Lennie has gotten you in a lot of trouble and had too many chances. So he probably deserved it. Letting Curly kill Lennie would probably haunt you because if he was gonna die you probably should of been the one to kill him. Either way Lennie would of died so ending him yourself would of been the best choice.

Of mice and men #2

Lennie wants to leave from the ranch because he is afraid of Curly. " Le's go, George. Le's get outta here." (p.33) From the quote you can see Lennie dosent like this place. He also wants to leave from this ranch. " It's mean here" (p.33) Lennie also dosent like it here cause he thinks it is a mean place. Lennie dosent like it at the ranch from the way Curly talked to Lennie and George. And the way George tells Lennie to stay away from Curly, probably scares Lennie.
